Margery Mason (27th September 1913 - 26th January 2014) played May Schofield on Coronation Street in 1962. Born in London, she was the Artistic Director of the Repertory Theatre in Bangor, Northern Ireland in the 1960s and has a long list of credits to her name including parts in Granada series such as The Villains and A Family at War in which she played the memorable role of Celia Porter. As well as a starring role in the acclaimed BBC four-part television drama Talking to a Stranger with Judi Dench and Maurice Denham in 1966, she later had a regular part in Peak Practice. A recent minor role was in the 2005 film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
