Harding was a sniper serving in the 82nd Airborne Division during Operation Husky. He was killed in Adanti by a German sniper who happened to also be a commander and his spotter was wounded. The spotter then told Boyd Travers to take his Springfield rifle and kill the officer. Harding's spotter was not seen again, but he most likely survived. We know that the spotter is wounded because he said: ".....Thinks he's got us both" and the fact that he's lying on the floor in a way that reflects being shot holding something near his stomach, likely a wound.
