Tyrone and Molly Dobbs were involved in a car crash on moorland in April 2010 after the brakes of their car failed, the task of fixing them not having been completed by Kevin Webster and Tyrone having taken the car, not realising that this was the case. The Policeman was one of the emergency services that arrived on the scene. He patrolled the edge of the accident scene and prevented Kevin from rushing to help when he arrived in the Websters' Auto Centre breakdown van, having realised what was wrong and then followed the couple on their trip.
