Fire Emblem: Gaiden is the sequel to Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon of and the Blade of Light, and the second game of the series. Though it did not grow as popular as the first it did get good reviews. Gaiden was also the last Fire Emblem video game to be released on the Famicom. The adventure takes place on a different continent in the same world as its predecesor, although some characters from the first game do return. A remake, known as Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is to be released on Nintendo 3DS internationally on May 19, 2017.
