A realm of Tatyarin and a minority of Nelyarin Avar Elves, Tâliran (Av."Point of Morning" PQ."Tildêarin") was the only truly Elven land in the area of the Mûmakan since the total destruction of Dînsûlinor. In fact, a few refugees from that land later lived in Tâliran, the rest having abandoned Middle-earth entirely for the Undying Lands (only a very few) in the West, become Lingerers or being killed by the Court of Ardor. Ruled as it had been since its founding in the First Age by Tûranar, a lord of Tata's people from the East, Tâliran was a self-contained country, remaining aloof from local politics. As may be expected, the Elves inhabited the forested areas of Tâliran, constructing beautiful and elaborate homes in the branches of the huge trees, which often grew to heights exceeding 200'
