Founded by the beginning of the 18th century, the village was occupied by the Kanien'kehá:ka people, which were a part of the Iroquois Confederacy. As it was built near to the ruins of the Grand Temple's entrance, Kanatahséton was used to protect the area indiscriminately. The village also held a Piece of Eden known as the Crystal Ball, which the people used to speak to Juno in the Nexus.
