The Dark Is Rising is the second book in The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper. Will Stanton joins the characters involved in an epic fight of the Light (good) versus the Dark (evil) which is rising. In a manner similar to the later books about Harry Potter, Will learns that he is special on his eleventh birthday. His special capabilities can affect the destiny of the world. This book follows Over Sea, Under Stone, the first book in the series. The next book is Greenwitch.
