She is a young cat who lives in Morningside, Edinburgh in Scotland with her grandmother Granny as her mother had died when she was younger whilst her father Daddy travels the world as part of his job at the Adventurology Department at Edinburgh University. Maisie and Granny's neighbour is Marjorie McKitty (better known as Mrs. McKitty) and Maisie's best friend is Archie.
