Danny Coles is a central defender who joined Rovers initially on loan from Hull City on 1 November 2007, before signing permanently on 8 January 2008. Although he is a defender, he played a couple of games for Rovers as an emergency central midfielder due to players being injured and suspended. Coles is a native of Bristol, who was a Bristol City player as a youngster. While with the club was charged with being drunk and disorderly in a pub in Newport, Shropshire during a pre-season visit to the area during 2005.
