Poltergeists are extremely powerful spirits generally locked away in The Veil, who occasionally find their way to our plane. They have never been living beings, though they often disguise themselves as specific people who have died. Most are jealous of the living, and either wish to steal living bodies, or just to kill. Most instances of possession are caused by Poltergeists. They are extremely difficult to effectively banish, very few people can do it without the use of specific tools. They are vulnerable (in order of effectiveness) to the energies of iron, silver, and roses. The term poltergeist, literally meaning noisy ghost, came to refer to these entities due to the physical violence of their manifestations, they tend to possess the living, throw objects, light fires, and so forth.
