A Man for All Seasons is a play by Robert Bolt, depicting the historical circumstances surrounding Thomas More and his refusal to countenance the divorce of Henry VIII. First written for BBC radio in 1954 and then aired on BBC television in 1957, Bolt reworked it as a stage play in 1960. It opened in the West End and then moved to Broadway in 1961. A film version was released in 1966 (with Paul Scofield reprising his stage role as More), and other TV and radio versions have been produced.
