Multiple versions of the Power model were introduced in 1988 and 1989: two 24-fret models were introduced in 1988 as the 540PⅡ-HH and 540PⅡ-SH and originally issued in Japan and Europe only. The 540PSH and 540PHH were introduced in 1989 in the US. The new Power models replaced the original, differently shaped 540P models.
