The Heliocentric theory was originally the idea that the sun is at the centre of the Universe while the Earth and the other planets revolve round the sun. The earliest important or known advocate of the heliocentric theory was the Ancient Greek philosopher Aristarchus. After Aristarchus it took over a millenium before great scientists, notably Copernicus, Galilleo and Kepler proved that the heliocentric theory is true.
