Edna Barlow was the wife of Sidney, mother of Marjorie and Frank and the paternal grandmother of Ken and David Barlow. Edna loved her husband devotedly, and when he died in 1931 she had a nervous breakdown and spent three months in a psychiatric hospital, making Frank drop out the navy to help his sister support his mother and themselves. Edna lived to see Frank and his bride Ida Leathers marry in 1938, but died before 1960.
