It first activated to help him retrieve a Chaos Emerald but after the doctor noticed Sonic the Hedgehog was after the emerald as well, Eggman ordered it to attack Sonic. Beacon mainly bounced Sonic around but with the help of Tails and Amy, Sonic was able to destroy it. Eggman later rebuilt Beacon to help fend off an attack by GUN's air force.
