Rodrigo Borgia was one of the major scientists in PROJECT GUNGNIR and was responsible for developing much of the particle acceleration systems. He was hired on from a independent United Aerospace Systems commission to BLACK LIGHT after developing a number of theoretical Free Electron LASER systems for long range and planetary defence against insurrectionist artillery systems. He stayed with BLACK LIGHT until the culmination of GUNGNIR, which it was fully deployed to front line units in late 2552.
