Gari is a Coman randon cadet who has the Shanir ability to attract and command a swarm of insects. He does not appear to have any control over the kind of insects he attracts, but they are always all the same type and appear to reflect his mood and recent duties. Once he has them, he can't make them leave, and he once gets kicked out of the barracks because he's infested with termites. He accompanies Jame and Randiroc to Gothregor at the end of To Ride a Rathorn and is thus her companion at the beginning of Bound in Blood.
