The statue of Joshua Collins was erected sometime in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It sits deep in the woods on the Collinwood estate behind the Old House. At the base of the statue is an inscription, which reads - "Carpent tua poma nepotes", which translates from Latin as –Your descendants shall gather your fruits. The inscription was originally authored by the Roman poet, Publius Vergilius Maro (Virgil).
