The Terran Republic's Automatic Machine Pistol functions similarly to an SMG thanks to its lightning-fast, fully automatic fire. Its high rate of fire, while effective at close range, limits its effective range to close quarters combat. Therefore, the gun is best used to complement longer range weapons. The T4 AMP has the highest rate of fire of all infantry weapons in Planetside 2. The weapon shreds opponents at close range, yet its rate of fire means it burns through ammo quickly, and isn't useful taking on multiple foes.
