Aware that the dog was not heeding her commands, the woman also went to investigate. Realising that it was a human body afloat, she duly phoned the police and gave them a statement upon their arrival. The body (which was unidentified at this time) was pulled out of the lake and zipped into a body bag. After a preliminary investigation, the police visited 8 Coronation Street and informed Gail McIntyre that it was the body of husband Joe that had been recovered.
