  • Source Filmmaker (often abbreviated as SFM and often misspelled as Source Film Maker) is a 3D video-making software, which, as the name implies, is modified off of the Source engine, namely a modification of an outdated Team Fortress 2 version of the Engine, though assets from other games and original content can be used as well. Models can be imported from Garry's Mod, however they sometimes need to be optimized in order for them to work properly. Certain models made specifically for SFM will not work in Gmod as well.

abstract
  • Source Filmmaker (often abbreviated as SFM and often misspelled as Source Film Maker) is a 3D video-making software, which, as the name implies, is modified off of the Source engine, namely a modification of an outdated Team Fortress 2 version of the Engine, though assets from other games and original content can be used as well. Models can be imported from Garry's Mod, however they sometimes need to be optimized in order for them to work properly. Certain models made specifically for SFM will not work in Gmod as well. Source Filmmaker was originally only available to Valve's video making team, however, a version of the developer's SFM was leaked, and people such as Jimbobc and the Unterganger SuperMarioGalaxy13 started making videos with it. However, it reportedly required an Autodesk Maya plugin in order to work, and without it functioning correctly, SFM was unusable. Eventually a public version was released, but it was not the developer version, and did not automatically have every asset from the latest Team Fortress 2 updates. The public version came with the production file for Meet the Heavy, and the files for Meet the Soldier and Meet the Engineer were released later on, however, no further "Meet the Team" videos have been released for editing, though fan-made maps have been created in their place.
