  • Species Location Weapon Abilities The puffer, also known as a flying lurker, is an enemy in The Precursor Legacy found in lost Precursor city. Dragons are large, blue lurkers, flying around in circles with bat-like wings similar to the robber. Their physical characteristic traits are common to all lurkers including appendages growing over their jawline and large yellow eyes. Similar to the aphid lurker and ice lurker, the dragon has two stages of combat. The first stage is offensive, inflating themselves with spikes (similar to a blowfish). During the second stage they are vulnerable to attack when they retract their spikes.

  • Puffers were a type of food which wriggled around before being eaten suggesting it was possible a creature eaten live. The Hutt, Grelb ate a puffer in 44 BBY while en route to the planet Bandomeer. The following day he compared the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn to the puffer and the way it wriggled while the Human was trapped on a cliff face trying to avoid fire from the Hutt's Whiphid thugs on an Unidentified blue marble planet.
  • Puffer is an enemy species in the Metroid series, notably Metroid Prime (and it's pinball styled remake Metroid Prime Pinball for the Nintendo DS). It has a uniqe form of self-defense where, if an enemy approches, it will release a form of apparently poisonous gas. If shot, it will explode, which will release all of its gas, thus heavily harming anyone close to it. It's certainly not a very feared among others around it, including Samus Aran who can quickly disspose of one by shooting it with any of her weapons.
  • Puffers are small organisms first encountered on Tallon IV. They are round, greenish creatures with a number of tubes sticking out of their bodies, and float around by emitting puffs of green gas. When one is touched or destroyed, it explodes, releasing a cloud of gas that covers a large portion of their surroundings. This gas is incredibly toxic and caustic, and can even be a hazard to Samus in her Power Suit; the initial explosion itself is quite harmful as well - on Hard Mode/Hyper Mode, it possesses sufficient force to destroy nearby metal crates. There are also Plated Puffers encountered later on in Metroid Prime, which are Puffers mutated by Phazon; there is a further mutated variant encountered in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

  • Puffers fill their bodies with lethal meta-viprium gas and float around in search of food. If ruptured, the gas within the puffer is violently released. Despite their fragile bodies, Puffers are aggressive hunters. The gas cloud they release upon death is often fatal to the creature that brings them down as well.

The Bulls of Zebes, the BOTTLE SHIP and the Biologic Space Laboratories research station also share many similar characteristics. Puffers are found in Lava Lake, Monitor Tunnel, Monitor Station, Triclops Pit, Twin Fires and Ventilation Shaft.
