  • Native is a villain who was helping Mr. Freeze with his invasion.
  • A close relative of the native is the beast classification. Although these monsters have similar appearances and fighting styles, beasts tend to be larger, more primeval foes and highly vicious compared to natives. Beasts should not be mistaken for the human-modified race, Beast, or altered beasts.
  • The Native is a lower-class biological Enemy in the Platformer games that is a user of Power. Its description says "small enemy with a spear." The Native is the 20th Enemy to be shown in the Enemies and Hazards Game Creator Category. The Native is capable of tossing spears at a relatively long distance away from its own location. In groups, it can prove hazardous to the player, especially when it is out of the player's reach. However, the spear could be avoided by a shield.
  • Native is the original, unmodded version of Mount & Blade released with the game. The 5 factions it includes are the Kingdom of Swadia, the Kingdom of Vaegirs, the Khergit Khanate, the Kingdom of Rhodoks, and the Kingdom of Nords. It is set in the fictional (but not fantastical) continent of Calradia, in the last 1200s.
  • Natives are uneducated men and women who dress, act, and even speak as exotically as possible to provide tourists with the "authentic" island experience in ethnic enclaves, cocktail bars, and voodoo manors. The higher a native's skill is, the better the service quality where they work is.
  • Natives are the original nations in a region. Determining who is Native when there is an invasion becomes quite problematic. Figuring out who came first and who came second is one of the better ongoing battles in NationStates gameplay. A variety of different methods are used in deciding nativity. One approach is via moderator intervention. Another depends on the use of stored XML feeds. There are puppet observers and spies, simple observation, and offsite forum discussions. Doubtless there are other, lesser publicized methods for tracking Natives as well.
  • A Native in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series is a person who is not a member of a crew of sailors, explorers or pirates. Natives may be adults, relatives or unknown members of the public. All are 'out' of the 'in-group' but natives can be well-regarded (the best of all natives) or enemies (unfriendly natives). In wintertime, the natives tend to wear fur coats and other heavy clothing, and are therefore called "Eskimos". Natives are to be blame for many unneccesary objects and activities such as highways, garbage and noise, but are also the source of civilization (ice cream), which Roger finds important.
  • Most Funkeys believe the Nibble to be the original inhabitants of Funkiki Island, and while technically they were the first Funkeys to inhabit the island, the Funkiki natives had been living there, and throughout Terrapinia, long before the first Tiki crawled out of the primordial soup! The natives collectively decided that their society would leave Terrapinia, and endeavor to discover the experiences that could be found among the stars! However, before they were to leave, they wanted to return Terrapinia to its natural state.

Doubtless there are other, lesser publicized methods for tracking Natives as well. Region Hoppers (nations moving a nation from one region to another in quick progression) can confuse the issue, as can multiple invasions. Sorting out Nativity can even bedevil even the most even-handed Mod. Ejecting Natives can be dangerous for the determined invader or defender. Improper guesses or griefing (removing nations from a region) abuses can lead to deletion of the ejector. Only the founder is exempt from these issues, as s/he has the power to eject and ban without reason or cause. Not surprisingly, invaders tend to avoid regions with active Founders. Cogitation, on Nativity [1] Nativity is a property of nations, so if someone maintains two or more serious puppets as permanent or long-term residents of two or more different regions, then each puppet is a native of its respective region. So, a puppet can still be a native. It's not necessarily the case, but it's possible.

Long ago, before the first Funkey appeared, the natives were the most technologically advanced society in history. The natives of Terrapinia had built a vast network of cities that stretched throughout the far reaches of Terrapinia, and had experienced all that this world had to offer. Feeling their culture had reached a zenith, the natives of Terrapinia, much like the Xener would in the far future, began to look to the skies for their next great adventure! The natives collectively decided that their society would leave Terrapinia, and endeavor to discover the experiences that could be found among the stars! However, before they were to leave, they wanted to return Terrapinia to its natural state. Tearing down their vast cities they had built, the natives of Terrapinia recycled these materials and repurposed them in order to create an enormous space ship. However, in order to launch such an enormous ship into space, they would need to somehow harness the vast power of the great mother Terrapin. To do this, they built their ship at the peak of the Funkiki volcano. With the ship which they had dubbed “Coconut 1” completed, they just had to figure out how to make the great volcano erupt. It was determined that if the volcano was tickled in just the right place, it would erupt with such force, the space ship would be launched. However, this would mean that some natives would need to be left behind! Although many volunteered, only a select few natives were chosen for the great honor of tickling the volcano. With everyone else aboard, the small group of natives met at the foot of the volcano, and began tickling. In no time at all, the great volcano erupted in both laughter and magma, and catapulted Coconut 1 into deep space. Now the few that were left behind remain as the stewards of Funkiki Island, in case the natives of Terrapinia ever return. As time has passed, the natives of Funkiki have shunned all things technological, preferring instead to live as one with nature, and the Great Mother Terrapin.

The term native may also mean 'associated with worldly concerns' (as opposed to camping , sailing and having fun). Susan's preoccupations with food preparation and hygiene are often considered native; Captain Nancy thinks (about staying overnight in the Fram) that Susan, she knew, was always a little inclined to take a native view (WH20). Bill of the Death and Glories is said to sometimes have a "native" demeanour like Susan. The term muggle, as used in Harry Potter books has similarities with native.
