  • Sir Charles Henry Burge (1846-21 December 1921) was an analytical chemist and local politician active in the Kingston upon Thames area. A Fellow of the Institute of Chemstry, Burge was Deputy Principal at the Government Laboratory, Somerset House, until he retired in 1906. An alderman on Kingston-upon-Thames Borough Council, he held the office of Mayor for seven consecutive terms from 1912-19, and was knighted in 1918. For the Kingston War Memorial dispute see [1]
