Her first was to Glenn Jacobson, second to German mountain climber Friedrich "Fritz" Stammberger, who in 1975 disappeared in Afghanistan while mountain climbing and died while fighting with Afghanistan against the USSR. In 1984, she married writer Carlos de Abreu after four years of dating. Janice is also the author of her own book, Husband, Lover, Spy.
