  • The Shadow Thieves are an organization that operate through agents all over Western Faerun among their many bases. Their head base is in the Athkatla Docks in the city of Athkatla, and their highest leader is Aran Linvail. They thrive in criminal activity.
  • —Organizations motto The Shadow Thieves was a small criminal organization made up of a few members, each with a specific set of skills. The organization earned its funds through a variety of heists, stealing from jewelry stores to banks. The most successful heist that had been planned was an armed robbery on the UEG-colony of Tribute. After the heist, the team had went their separate ways, immediately dissolving the organization. The organization was reformed after Michael West claimed leadership status and his team reunited. Michael's team was determined to break into the UNSC Maximum Security Detention Facility to save David King. Michael agreed, and after hearing about David's predicament, he decided to place everyone in cryosleep to break him out in a more prominent year.
  • The Shadow Thieves are a thieves guild based in the fictional city of Athkatla, a large port city within the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms campaign setting. They were the original Thieves guild of Waterdeep, until they were driven out and to Amn by the Lords of that city. Michael's team was determined to break into the UNSC Maximum Security Detention Facility to save David King. Michael agreed, and after hearing about David's predicament, he decided to place everyone in cryosleep to break him out in a more prominent year. After Michael was murdered, his son, Shawn, took over the organization, but didn't exactly re-establish it till 2590. During this ten to fifteen-year time period of necessary waiting, Shawn took the opportunity to recruit younger team members for the organization. Shawn then followed his father's instructions via hologram and his father's team were released from their cyro chambers. As to avoid confusion, Shawn assigned the organizations members team names. Shawn's fathers team had been known as Team Ace, while his younger team had been known as Team Rouge. Shawn and Team Ace had planned to break David out of the UNSC Maximum Security prison, which had become a success, but they had unknowingly released Kyle Craig from his Cryosleep as well. An assault had begun on the prison and both parties had escaped with injuries. Team Ace went into hiding to recover from their injuries, while Shawn and his compatriots worked together to track down David King and Kyle Craig, offering any assistance to the UEG Law Enforcement authorities and even ONI, going to lengths to earn the respect of both organizations as well as a chance to start a new.

It is alleged they have some arrangement with the Council of Six, as the merchants of Waterdeep are the main trading enemies of Amn. The Shadow Thieves played a prominent role in the popular role-playing adventure game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Although based in the port city of Athkatla (in the nation of Amn), they are said to sponsor a number of criminal activities in other cities including Baldur's Gate. One of the leaders of the Shadow Thieves is known as Nards, founder of the Nards Collective- a sub group responsible for all manners of manipulation. Nards has been loosely linked with many types of criminal and less than ethical activities including political manipulations, black mail, and prostitution. The Nards Collective is unique among similar organizations because the gender of its members is never revealed. However, a few clues are given. A female Nards member may have been a madam responsible for the operation of brothels and street-walkers in several locales. A male Nards member may have acted as a surrogate father-figure for several street urchins, who later formed the Collective. Forgotten Realms-related article is a stub.
