With the end of the Cardassian Occupation in 2368, Tova's views moderated, and she pressed Orta to give up their old life and return to Bajor in peace. She succeeded in convincing him in 2370, when they were recruited to help farm Bajor's second moon. However, when Tova continued to argue for peaceful co-existence even after Orta discovered a powerful weapon known as a Malkus Artifact, he killed her for her perceived disloyalty.
