In the Eastern Conference, Sidney Crosby led the Eastern Conference voting ballot to gain a forward starting position with 507,274 votes, but was injured and was replaced by Evgeni Malkin. Andrei Markov and Zdeno Chara led the defensemen top two in votes for the starting positions. Players Vincent Lecavalier and Daniel Alfredsson were second and third respectively in the voting ballots for forwards and secured those starting positions. Martin Brodeur led the voting ballot for the goaltender position with 220,392 votes, but was replaced by Tim Thomas. In the Western Conference, Nicklas Lidstrom led the Western Conference voting ballot to gain a defenseman starting position with 477,787 votes and Dion Phaneuf came in second to become the other starter. Henrik Zetterberg came in first with 326,244 were votes to gain a starting forward position, but was replaced by Mike Ribeiro. Players Pavel Datsyuk and Jarome Iginla were second and third respectively in the voting ballots for forwards and secured those starting positions.
