  • The City of the Rainland, also known as Stormport, is the capital, and most-populous city of the Rainland, as well as the 2nd most-populous city of that Earth, with a population of 65,000 people. It lies between Goodness Bay, and Storm Isle on the ruins of a nameless ancient city. According to the Rainlanders, the city was built by Eles (from Sefenlander: Eles, "Goddes Stone," and figuratively "God of Ruins," which came to be associated with the Southern Sage, who ruled Ruined Isle, and the name took on the meaning of "God of Lightning," as Landeles was one) the God-From-the-Lightning. They hold that the Southern Sage stole his powers from Eles at his home of Burning Rock, and left his body to sleep beneath that Earth. Rainlanders go on to say that their world entered a dark age after the Southern Sage was killed by Myklas, a God-in-the-Flames, who gave "his" favor to the Bottomjawmen. The Rod (Rainlander: "King") of the Rainland claims that one day Eles shall once again walk that Earth, and shall strike down Myklas, and bring down the Bottomjaw Empire. He was, however, a puppet of the Kalth Kings of Bottomjaw Castle, later a puppet of the Prince of Seylenn, Pyett, and then a puppet of the Pyett's threeeyes. Rainlanders are the descendants of Mate Tzu, and her people. Mate Tzu was a member of the Slayers' Guild, with knowledge of gods of destruction, and lychgates. Prior to being a Slayer, she had been a sealhag trained in foresight. She saw many years ahead of it, the Storm of Storms that would befall Western Parthalenn, and knew what her duty was. She joined the Slayers' Guild, and learned how to create lychgates. When the time came, she led a large group of Vraenckorrians, and Irrinisians who had taken up residence in the Rol Slum in Anasia's City (then Ana's City). There she slew a goat to open a lychgate, and led her people across it. Despite being depicted as a monster in most myths, she is usually thought of as a hero for finding Za Lych, and Za Vraek. Strangely, for centuries after finding the cities, most of their populations were composed of native Rainlanders, and the precursors to the Vraeki, as well as the Kostolis. Centuries later, the Sun-Serfs, returned to claim the Rainland. They reached the fabled lands of Eles, the Burning Rock, Vraek, and the Great Isles. They completely supplanted native Rainlanders, replacing them, and forcing most of them south to Flayeland.
