  • Klag, son of M'Raq is a a Klingon male who was a protagonist in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode A Matter of Honor. Klag was the son of M'Raq and his wife Tarilla and the elder brother of Dorrek. He and his brother learned to hunt from their great uncle and both became very skilled at the Bat'leth. In 2360 M'Raq was presumed dead after a battle with Romulans. The Romulans captured M'Raq and did not allow him to take his life. He returned home and refused to talk about what happened nor made any attempt to reclaim his honor. Because of this Klag refused to see him or allow Dorrek to see him either, sparking off a rift between the two men. Klag joined the Klingon Defence Force. As an ensign his ship was once assigned to escort Chancellor K'mpec. By 2365 Klag was a lieutenant serving on board the Pagh under Captain Kargan. Kargan had more political connections than actual command ability, but due to the skills of Klag and the Pagh's crew he became highly respected. Klag refused to move against Kargan because of the retribution it would surely cause. In 2365 William Riker came onboard the Pagh as part of an office exchange program. When Riker took his oath Klag said to Kargan in Klingon not to believe the human, that Riker was lying. Kargan told Klag to speak in English to Riker. Klag informed the human that he did not believe Riker, and was challenging his authority. Riker responded by attacking and defeating Klag in combat, impressing Klag that he was willing to fight for his position. Klag told Riker he would follow his orders while Riker was on the Pagh. Klag and Riker became friends during this time, and Klag gave the human some valuable insights in to Klingons. After defusing a situation where Kargan nearly attacked the Enterprise, Klag told Riker that he did indeed understand Klingons before beaming him back to the Enterprise. Klag always spoke very highly of Riker, including to Chancellor Martok following the Dominion War. Klag continued to serve on the Pagh for another 10 years under Captain Kargan until the ship was destroyed by the Jem'Hadar in 2375. Klag was the only survivor. Despite being gravely wounded Klag fought off the Jem'Hadar. He was given command of the IKS Gorkon. During this time Klag became acquainted with Worf. At first seeing the man as a political appointee like Kargan, after seeing Worf in action he changed his mind and regarded Worf as a good friend.
