  • The Cv Barroso (designated as V-34) is a corvette of the brazilian navy. Currently, the Barroso it's the only ship of his class. The name is in honor of the Admiral Francisco Manuel Barroso da Silva, the baron of Amazonas, that played a great role during the Battle of Riachuelo at the Paraguayan War. The Barroso was tested at sea at 2002 but only became operational in 2008. It is unknown if the Brazilian Defense Ministry will order more ships of the Barroso class, but it's unlikely as the Brazilian DefMin plans to acquire a frigate to replace the classes Inhaúma and the Barroso. This frigate is likely to be the FREMM or the Type 26.
