In addition, he was a superior hand-to-hand and lightsaber combatant. He was also proficient in the power known as psychometry, which enabled him to "read memories" from inanimate objects through physical contact. Sarik had a constant struggle with the Jedi Council, mostly due to his informal training and his knowledge of the Way, which the Council had branded as a heresy and a threat to the Jedi Order. As such, in 203 ABY, Sarik was banished from the Jedi Order by the Council, after which he traveled to the Outer Rim planet of Kandor. It was here that he built the Dojo of the Way and founded The Samuratii, a clan of Jedi who had heard the calling of the Way and possessed the powers of the Five Elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void.
