The Los Angeles Kings chose him 110th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Lukacevic turned pro with the Manchester Monarchs and the Reading Royals in 2006-07. In 2008 he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. In the middle of the 2007-08 season, the Flyers sent him to the Boston Bruins for Andrew Alberts.
