Mason is currently the backup quarterback to Aaron Murray at the University of Georgia. In his Freshman season he received little playing time. Mason did do well in his first game against UL Lafayette, throwing a touchdown pass to Logan Gray on his first collegiate pass attempt, an NCAA D-1 record setting performance that few have accomplished.

While in high school at Lassiter High School Mason starred at quarterback. He threw for a Georgia state record of 4560 passing yards as well as 54 touchdowns his senior year.
