  • The budgerigar, also called the budgie or parakeet, is a small parrot native Australia, which is commonly kept as a pet throughout the world. In 1995, a budgerigar named Bungy who lived at the Five Feathers in Barnsley, Yorkshire made the news for learning how to water ski.
