  • Merienda Crisps 1/2 cup butter 1 pkg (14 oz) wonton skins, each skin about 3 1/2 inches square Longhorn cheddar cheese, shredded Swiss cheese, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, shredded Bacon bits Italian Herb Seasoning Heat oven to 375. Melt butter in small pan. Cut 15 or 20 wonton skins in half lengthwise. Brush bottom of jelly roll pan or baking tin lightly with melted butter. Lay skins in rows on pan. Brush very sparingly with melted butter. Spread a few rows with shredded cheddar cheese, some with Swiss, some with Jack cheese and sprinkle bacon bits over some. Adding Italian Herbs seasoning to some give a pizza like flavor. Bake 6 to 7 minutes in oven. Repeat for as many as desired. For a number of years, these crisps were served at the VIP gathering before the Merienda. These crisps were a standard and very popular snack to go with wine or sherry. Source: Col. Richard L.
