Because Ace is using the sun's energy and it restores his chakra reserves, and from using the Sun as the techniques power source, there's theoretically no limit to how long this technique can last, as it substains itself, but Ace always keeps this technique active for 1 minute tops. This is because if not, his seal will start to absorb more chakra which can cause it to release all the chakra in a sudden explosion, with the thermal energy of several hundred nuclear bombs. This would kill Ace in the process. After the technique is over, the sky's brightness goes back to normal. Using this technique in combination with Super Nova, Ace once wiped a village from existance.
