The Lava Hawks were usually seen around warm, volcanic areas of Voya Nui, such as Mount Valami. This was because the species tended to have naturally hard scales that proved to be resistant to temperatures rivalling that of molten magma. The population of Lava Hawks is presumably dead since the Toa Mahri destroyed The Cord, sending Voya Nui back to its original position.
