Assim, em 1390, quando Tork rompeu a casca do ovo e veio a este mundo medindo metade do tamanho normal para um trog, o horror dominou sua tribo. Eles não podiam matá-lo pois, segundo a profecia, isso acarretaria em uma maldição ainda pior. Então, ainda filhote, ele foi levado para longe da comunidade troglodita e nunca mais foi visto. O trog anão enfrentou uma dura luta pela sobrevivência desde então. Viveu escondido em florestas como um animal, até encontrar o Forte Hedryl, um posto avançado na costa de Petrynia. Mas, ao tentar se reunir com os soldados, foi recebido com o medo e violência que todo troglodita recebe. Passou então a rondar as proximidades da torre, alimentando-se de restos. Quando, em um dia, o forte foi atacado por elfos-do-mar, Tork arrancou o braço de Deenar, o líder do bando, e dispersou os invasores, salvando a vida do comandante Brian Corbade. Os soldados perceberam então que o troglodita era um aliado, e ele foi aceito na torre. Treinado em combate pelos soldados, Tork também aprendeu a linguagem e costumes dos humanos, fazendo amizade com Brian e a jovem Soline Lantas. Tornou-se um guerreiro temível, tanto que sua simples presença desencorajava qualquer ataque à torre. Um dia, contudo, o posto avançado foi novamente atacado por Deenar, que por pouco não matou Soline. Temendo por seus amigos, ele decidiu que não viveria mais entre eles. Construiu uma jangada e navegou até Galrasia, onde acreditava nunca mais encontrar outro ser humano. Estava errado. Ali ele conheceu a jovem Lisandra, ainda em estado selvagem, sem saber falar ou mesmo andar sobre duas pernas. Tork acabou adotando-a como sua "filhota" e ensinando-lhe o que havia aprendido antes de partir. Anos mais tarde, Tork se estabeleceu como mercenário na cidade de Malpetrim, onde era sempre encontrado tomando cerveja na Estalagem do Macaco Caolho ou causando problemas nas barracas de bebidas da Grande Feira. Nesse período, Tork teve notícias de Lisandra - agora envolvida com o Paladino de Arton e seus Rubis da Virtude - e seguiu uma série de aventuras, encontros e desencontros, incluindo um novo e quase mortal confronto com Deenar. Foi auxiliado pelo mago Vladislav Tpish, que reconstruiu sua arma e armadura. Hoje, com o fim da busca pelos Rubis da Virtude, Tork voltou a atuar como guerreiro mercenário enquanto persegue Deenar para o acerto de contas final.
