  • The existence of Utsuku have been a topic of heated debate among heads of the Department of Research and Development in the Seireitei for centuries. Recorded encounters of Utsuku have been few and far between, but the studies on them that have managed to have been conducted on them reveal that Utsuku are beings that share similar, if not exact replicas of the souls of other individuals. Such a phenomenon is known as the Soul Link (気迫繋がり Kihaku Tsunagari). Individuals connected by a Soul Link were originally twins at some point, but when they died and were reincarnated, they were separated, but their souls themselves remain connected. This can happen with Souls born in the Soul Society or Humans who died and go to the Soul Society and die again to be reincarnated. Those connected by a Soul Link share great resemblances to each other, with slight differences, be it hair colour or eye colour, or a combination of both, however, their general build is the same, and even personalities can be similar. Though rare, abilities can also be shared. Power levels between the souls are not well balanced, if one of strong, the other will be weaker and vice-versa.
