  • He believes very strongly in punishing those who do wrong, and has zero faith in the mechanics of government or law to carry out a sentence. This is not to say he will go out of his way to search out corruption or illegality , but he will not ignore wrongdoing in any situation, no matter who he has to face - wealth, power, clout, and personal ramifications make no difference when he goes after someone who has wronged.
  • Yuri gets a bit of a kick out of messing with people, and he tends to tease just about everyone he meets, even if said teasing isn’t really the best idea. He doesn’t particularly care for diplomacy. Yuri is, however, a very sincere person - if he says something, he means it, even if it seems as though he is simply poking fun. Underneath his irresponsible facade, Yuri is extremely protective of anything or anyone he believes needs protecting. Should something threaten someone close to him, he will immediately shed his slack-off attitude and let his remarkable determination and force of will shine through. Yuri does not back down - some people may see this as arrogant, but it stems instead from a quiet confidence that he will always do what needs be done, and nothing will stand in his way.
  • Yuri is blunt, laid-back, rude when he needs to be, and deceptively kind-hearted. He generally comes off as a flippant wanderer, but anyone who comes to him for aid will get it. Though he tries to act distant and somewhat aloof, he can’t really stay out of a conflict, or resist standing up for someone who is wronged, especially when either includes a perversion of justice.
  • Yuri’s overdeveloped vigilante complex comes from his cynical view of the ineffectiveness of the laws of man, and an idealism he often tries to hide. He honestly believes the world should and can be a fair place, and is out to make what changes he can.

  • In a dazzling display of his usual ‘why-the-hell-not’ attitude, Yuri registered himself and his ragtag group as a Guild - the name, Brave Vesperia, was taken from a bright, but rarely seen star in the eastern sky. It was not long after that he came across the Fiertia - then unnamed - and managed to scrape together enough money to purchase the odd, seemingly worthless ship.
  • Disillusioned by the corruption of the navy, and convinced that that path would do nothing to change anything, Yuri resigned his post and took off, leaving Flynn behind to try and make an internal change. Yuri spent the next several years working odd jobs - body-guarding, monster hunting, search and recovery, etc - and sent most of his profits back to the Lower Quarter, a habit he continues to practice aboard the Fiertia.
  • Eventually, he made his way to Kropmork where, not surprisingly, he made the switch to full-time mercenary. Along the way, Yuri ran into Repede, a surprisingly intelligent, battle-scarred dog, and the two adopted each other in an odd way. With Repede at his side, Yuri continued to rise in notoriety amongst the free-lancers in Kropmork-Nahk as a ruthless, but oddly honorable and honest fighter, and drew to him a patchwork of similar-minded mercenaries.
  • Yuri was born and raised in the Lower Quarter of Bellcius. Though most of his early life was spent in abject poverty, he never really let it bother him - his friends and neighbors, however, were another story. As soon as he was old enough, he and his friend Flynn Scifo enlisted in the navy, intending to rise through the ranks and make a difference in the social inequalities of the country. Both boys were trained and placed in the Parliamentary Knights, where they got their first true look at the Ivona political engine, and it was not a pleasant sight.
  • Yuri now sails across Reial with a new-found freedom of movement that allows him, and his crew, to take on increasingly better-paying jobs, though he still holds quite true to his goal of delivering fairness and justice to those who need it. He does periodically drop back by the Lower Quarter to check up on things and see to it that money is being put to good use, but for the most part he remains aboard his ship, waiting for the next job.

A young man from the Imperial Capital, Zaphias, Yuri is forced to leave his life in the lower quarter behind to pursue the thief who stole the blastia core required for regulating the area's water supply. Yuri's pursuit of the thief eventually leads to him being imprisoned in the castle dungeons. After making his escape, he continues his journey with Estelle and his faithful dog Repede for the sake of the common people. His journeys have him crossing paths with many new people, places and thrilling adventures, eventually escalating into a quest to save the planet. A major part of his time in the imperial knights is with the Niren Corps, often arguing with Flynn Scifo, Hisca Aiheap, and his captain Niren Fedrock—though he admires Niren's ideals. His personality during the movie is much more impulsive; often doing things on his own, holding his ideals in the highest regard. After returning from a mission to destroy a large pack of monsters from attacking a town due to the increase of aer, Yuri starts a bar fight with a local guild and manages gains the respect of the guild leader. After Niren and Chastel go to investigate the aer and Flynn goes to request reinforcements in his captain's place, Yuri and Hisca help to quell another monster attack. During the attack, Niren's dog Lambert is taken control of by a monster comprised of pure aer forcing Yuri to kill him. Disheartened, Yuri decides to take care of Repede, Lambert's son, and clashes with Flynn who failed to acquire reinforcements. Niren decides that he must take matters into his own hands as Yuri, Flynn and the rest of the Niren Corps go to investigate a fortress which is the center of all of the aer. Yuri, more than ever, tries to save everyone but after successfully stopping the device causing the overflow of aer, the fortress collapses and Yuri fails to save Niren who was caught in a sinking sinkhole. Flynn informs him that Garista Luodur was probably involved in the device as they confront him. When he reveals his plans, he attacks Yuri and Flynn. Yuri, using the blastia that Niren gave to him before he died, catches Garista off guard and kills him. In the aftermath of this, Yuri, who is seen in his familiar black clothes from the game, leaves the knights with Repede, who now has Niren's pipe. The experiences Yuri had in the movie carries on with him throughout the game. Yuri grew up in the Lower Quarter of Zaphias with Flynn, and according to many of the residents there (such as Ted), they were the best of friends and shared everything, even the first sword that they bought together. Growing up as a commoner caused Yuri to develop a dislike for the empire's nobility, and so throughout his adventure, Yuri tends to take the commoner's side in disputes. He is not afraid to take difficult matters into his own hands, and throughout his travels comes to decide that taking the law into his own hands is the only way to ensure that the villains of the world are punished. However, as shown by his conversation with Flynn in Mantaic, he is fully aware that in doing so he may be bringing himself closer to those whom he despises. Yuri is capable of using both swords and axes in battle, though axes usually slow him down. Yuri and Flynn joined the imperial knights together, but Yuri left—after "a few months", by his own account—because he could not stand their corruption. His short time as a knight allowed him to travel outside of the capital, but he was unable to do so as regularly as Flynn.

If someone of high authority is misusing their power and hurting innocent people but do not get a fair sentence for it, Yuri will punish them by means of killing them. He behaves slightly differently after doing that, more thoughtful and blunt than usual. Most people wouldn't notice that since he doesn't show emotions well. He'll keep on smiling if only to keep himself from going insane. If a person gets close to him, then he may let them see more of how he truly feels. Even if he gets close to a person, he won't fully trust them. Gaining Yuri's complete trust is extremely difficult and the only one who's truly managed it is his best friend, Flynn Scifo.
