She survived the invasion by hiding in a cellar while her parents defended their home outside. After a short skirmish her parents were killed by Covenant Sangheili Warriors. She hid inside the cellar until she was discovered by UNSC forces by accidentally activating her parent's short range radio. Rosenda was rescued by SPARTAN-029 a few long hours later and was taken by the 120th Drop Jet Platoon. Only minutes later she was evacuated from the planet by the 120th, and sent to an orphanage in New Alexandria, Reach where she lived for the next few years.
