  • The Shawinigan Falls Cataractes were a team in Shawinigan, Quebec. They were a senior, then an intermediate, then senior again, then a major, then a minor professional team. They started out in the Provincial Senior League in 1938. In 1941-42 they played in the intermediate Montreal City & District League and then entered the Montreal & District Senior League in 1941-42. In 1942-43 the Cataractes were again intermediate in the Quebec-Lauzon Maritime League. They returned to the Provincial Senior League in 1944-45 after taking a year off in 1943-44.

  • The Shawinigan Falls Cataractes were a team in Shawinigan, Quebec. They were a senior, then an intermediate, then senior again, then a major, then a minor professional team. They started out in the Provincial Senior League in 1938. In 1941-42 they played in the intermediate Montreal City & District League and then entered the Montreal & District Senior League in 1941-42. In 1942-43 the Cataractes were again intermediate in the Quebec-Lauzon Maritime League. They returned to the Provincial Senior League in 1944-45 after taking a year off in 1943-44. In the 1945-46 season they were admitted to the Quebec Senior Hockey League and followed that league thorugh its change in status to major and then professional. They took a leave of absence in 1953-54 because they good not accquire enough good players. In 1954 they returned as a farm team of the Montreal Canadiens which provided them with an adequate supply of players. The Cataractes won the Quebec Hockey League title in 1954-55 and 1957-58. They also won the Edinburgh Trophy in 1954-55. They folded in 1958. Shawinigan was too small to support a minor pro team.
