  • Mitch McGrath is a current football player at Furman University. McGrath slated a great junior year campaign, performing at superior levels versus Appalachian State, Wofford, the University of Florida, and Chattanooga where he was named the National Defensive Player of the Week by Sporting News and FatHead.com. Born in Euclid, Ohio on May 26th, 1989 to Marlene Jochum and Tim McGrath, he spent most of his early years in Ohio. McGrath later relocated to Orlando, Florida, where he attended Lake Brantley High School. He was a two sport star playing basketball and football. Earning all state in basketball, he was a McDonald's All-American Nominee, and also led the Patriots to their first and second district titles in basketball. He lettered all four years in basketball and in football he acquired three varsity letters. He was a part of the Lake Brantley squad that made a state title run, but lost in Dolphin Stadium to the number one team in the nation, Miami-Northwestern. He signed a scholarship offer to Furman University. His red-shirt freshmen year he played in all 11 games, and started two. Sophmore year he played in all 11 games on special teams.
