  • Upon entering, the player will be ambushed by six Risen. There is nothing special about this area but a player can clear it in a few seconds to get some gold, and it needs to be explored in order to get the achievement No Stone Unturned. With some luck, either Latimorr Edgars or Marko may spawn in this area.
  • This ritual is how most members of the True Black Hand first reach Enoch (City). It is similar to Shadowland Passage but can affect an entire group. Everyone is buried together using dirt mixed with the remains of at least one freshly killed sentient creature.
  • The Mass Grave is a pit located at the foot of a mesa in El Castillo del Diablo, Bone County, north of the Restricted Area and south of the Verdant Meadows Airfield in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

  • The Mass Grave was a large pit that was dug by the Hostiles to place the bodies of the deceased members of the DHARMA Initiative after the Purge. In "The Man Behind the Curtain", Ben brings Locke to the grave to show him his people and where he came from. Ben explains that they were members of the DHARMA Initiative, and that when it became clear that one side had to be purged, Ben did what he needed to to stay alive, and states that he was one of the few people who was smart enough to not end up in that pit, and goes on to add that this makes him significantly smarter than Locke. At which point, Ben shoots Locke and leaves him for dead in the pit.
  • The mass grave is an open pit into which the bodies of the DHARMA Initiative staff were dumped after being killed during the Purge. The grave site is roughly half a day's hike from the cabin. Following their visit to the cabin, Ben Linus brought John Locke to the mass grave to show him the place where he "came from". Ben explained that the corpses were members of the DHARMA Initiative, the group he was a member of before he joined the Others. Ben claimed that when it became clear to him that the DHARMA members would be purged, he did what was necessary to stay alive. After this revelation, Ben shot Locke in the abdomen and left him for dead in the pit. ("The Man Behind the Curtain")

At which point, Ben shoots Locke and leaves him for dead in the pit. In "Through the Looking Glass", Locke awakens in the pit and realizes that he is unable to use his legs. Locke sees a gun on one of the bodies and prepares to shoot himself in the head, when Walt suddenly appears and tells him to get up and that he has work to do.
  • A mass grave is a grave containing multiple, usually unidentified human corpses. There is no strict definition of the minimum number of bodies required to constitute a mass grave. Mass or communal burial was a common practice before the development of a dependable crematory chamber by an Italian named Brunetti in 1873. In Paris, the practice of mass burial, and in particular, the condition of the infamous cemetery Des Innocents, led Louis XVI to eliminate Parisian cemeteries. The remains were removed and placed in the Paris underground forming the early Catacombs. Les Innocents alone had 6,000,000 dead to remove. Burial commenced outside of the city limits in what is now Père Lachaise cemetery. Mass graves are usually created after a large number of people die or are killed, and there is a desire to bury the corpses quickly. In disasters, mass graves are used for infection and disease control. The debate surrounding mass graves amongst epidemiologists includes whether or not, in a natural disaster, to leave corpses for individual traditional burials, or to bury corpses in mass graves: for example, if an epidemic occurs during winter, flies are less likely to infest corpses, reducing the risk of outbreaks of dysentery, diarrhea, diphtheria, or tetanus, so the use of mass graves is less important. Recent research indicates that the health risks from dead bodies in mass casualty events are very limited and that mass graves might cause more harm than good. Although mass graves can be used during major conflicts, they are more usually seen after natural disasters such as a major famine, epidemic, or natural disaster. In such cases, there is a breakdown of the social infrastructure that would enable disposal of bodies. Mass grave mapping teams have located 125 Khmer Rouge prison facilities and corresponding gravesites to date in Cambodia while researching the Killing Fields. It is commonly said that Mozart was buried in a mass grave in Austria in 1791. In the late 18th century they usually did not set signs on individual graves in Austria.

He was stopped by what appeared to be "Walt, only taller," who instructed him to get up as there was work to be done. ("Through the Looking Glass, Part 1") Approximately a week later, Locke returned to the mass grave with Hurley and Ben after being told to find Horace in a dream. Searching through the bodies, Locke found Horace's blueprints containing the location of the cabin. ("Cabin Fever")
