  • Now, Image Management – Part Two: Uncategorized images. I won't do any comparisons here; none is needed. Before I started tagging these a few weeks ago, we had over 5,000 untagged images; we're only slightly under that now. The point is, no image should be untagged. EVERYONE should ALWAYS tag an image when you upload it. Tagging these images isn't hard, but it will tag several users to clean this category out because of the large amount. But if a bunch of us work on it, we can get it done. Just keep a list of image tags handy for copy & pasting, open up a bunch of images, and start tagging!

Here's the list I keep handy in an open window of Notepad: {{film-screenshot}} {{screenshot}} {{promotional}} {{bookcover}} {{comiccover}} {{comicpanel}} {{DVDcover}} {{poster}} {{user-image}} {{fairuse}} {{unverified}} -- Ozzel 22:23, 5 August 2006 (UTC) * Here's something think I think would help: how about making at least one new image tag, something for RPG, reference book, and magazine scans. I usually just put a generic fair use tag on these, but that gets used enough; I think a category for these images would be helpful. Thoughts? -- Ozzel 22:25, 5 August 2006 (UTC) * i like it, it'd likely bring alot more structure and help maintain image control etc. Jedi Dude 22:27, 5 August 2006 (UTC) * Also check out . I think that there are a few templates that I have not yet gotten around to putting on the Image namespace template page.– 23:13, 5 August 2006 (UTC) The problem with some of those images is that only the uploader knows where they came from – sure, many of them are straightforward screenshots/covers/panels, but there is a good number that are not. A possible solution to this would be to use a bot notification system like they do on Wikipedia: the bot would paste a pre-coded sourcing message on the talk page of each of the uploaders listed in Special:Uncategorizedimages with a link to the specific image in question.
