  • Kyobei was a peasant who lived near the Dragon Heart Plain. In 1166 he was witness to the attempted arrest of Kaelung by three Mirumoto Bushi for the murder of Mirumoto Masazumi. Kyobei attempted to plead with the Mirumoto on Kaelung's behalf, but when the bushi moved to kill Kyobei Kaelung killed the three instead. Kaelung told Kyobei to tell anyone who asked that Kyobei had fled, and there had been no way to stop Kaelung. If not then Kyobei and his village would be held responsible for the deaths of the three samurai.
