The Old Man in the Mountain asked Ethan to carry on his legacy, of teaching the world to Live Free or Die. It is unknown exactly why this caused Ethan to create music and why the name E-603, although it is speculated that it is related to the day of The Old Man in the Mountain's Collapse.
