  • A Squib, also known as a wizard-born, is a non-magical person who is born to at least one magical parent. Squibs are, in essence, 'wizard-born Muggles.' They are rare and are looked upon with a degree of disdain by some witches and wizards, particularly pure-bloods. Muggle-born witches and wizards are descended from Squibs who married Muggles: the magical ability unexpectedly resurfaces after many generations.
  • A derogatory slur for a Strogg, in use by humans during the Stroggos Campaign.
  • Squibs were a sentient species from Skor II known for collecting, trading, and haggling. Adult Squibs had humanoid bodies that averaged a meter in height. They were covered in colorful fur and had pointed snouts, tufted ears, and large eyes. Squibs tasted objects by rubbing them over their fur. They were gregarious, insatiably curious, and obsessed with haggling and deal-making. It was said that the easiest way to get information from a Squib was to propose a trade.
  • Homeworld: Skor II Description: An old trader's saying warns to be wary of smiling Squibs. Standing about a meter tall, with large doe-eyes, rodent-like muzzles, tufted ears and fur ranging from red to blue in color, Squibs hardly seem imposing. But in the arena of their choice -- bartering -- they are ruthless. The Squibs love haggling, and are gifted at crafting convoluted and ultimately very rewarding trade deals. Often, the end goods aren't what's important -- it's the process the Squibs value.

Usually paired with a "blood bag" -- which is exactly what it sounds like, a small plastic sac filled with a liquid that looks like blood -- to produce what supposedly looks like a "real" wound. According to most actors who've had to use them, they hurt. Like most pyrotechnics, squibs will not work if they get too wet. The Squibs evolved on Skor II, a world blessed with nearly limitless resources. These resources, however, were distributed in widely scattered regions of the planet. Consequently, the Squibs soon developed a complex culture of barter and trade as different Squib tribes dealt with one another. Another interesting evolutionary trait is the Squib fur, which acts as a taste and olfactory receptor, enabling a Squib to examine an object by touching it and rubbing it against his or her fur. The Squib Polyanarchy consists of communities ruled by a single, but distant, king. The monarch during the fall of the Republic and the time of the Empire was King Ebareebaveebeedee. This revered ruler established an agreement with the Empire in which Squib "workers" (the Empire would qualify them as "slaves") would serve as menial labor aboard Imperial craft. These Squibs would often sneak messages to the Squib Reclamation Fleet, alerting the scavenger species to Imperial dump sites, which the Squibs would then exploit. The Squibs have developed an advanced technology of space-faring patchwork momships. These ships are generally unarmed, but the Squibs have excelled in adapting tractor beam technology for numerous applications, including defensive and offensive ones. The Squibs have established numerous large corporations, like Squib Reclamation, and Squib Merchandising. Squibs are generally confident, gregarious, and annoyingly curious. They tend to run into a situation to examine virtually anything without any regard to apparent or non-apparent dangers. Their fast-paced metabolisms make them a bundle of energy, and they are often regarded as flighty by other beings. Though the Squibs lauded the Jedi Knights for protecting their world during the Clone Wars, they chose to remain neutral in the Galactic Civil War. They gladly scavenged both Imperial and Alliance trash.

In addition to its literal meaning, the term "damp squib" is sometimes used as a metaphor for a setup that fails in execution. Not to be confused with: * Non-magical children of wizard parents in the Harry Potter universe, which are termed "squibs" in-world. * A Squab, which is a pigeon. * "Squib" also has a meaning as a verb, meaning to hit weakly. Most commonly heard in sports broadcasts, both American football (a purposely weaker kickoff in order to prevent the return team to set up its normal return and/or force someone other than its normal returner (usually someone bigger and slower than the normal returner) to field it, and baseball (a ball hit so softly that by the time it gets to any of the fielders, the batter is already at first base.)

Skor II was rich in natural resources, but these were not evenly distributed. Thus, the Squibs developed into nomads and traders. Over time, they developed a complex system of trade and barter. After their discovery by the galaxy at large, the Squibs became successful galactic scavengers and fierce rivals to the Ugors. During the Separatist Crisis, the Squib king, Ebareebaveebeedee, was a vocal supporter of the Galactic Republic. Later, after the rise of the Galactic Empire, Ebareebaveebeedee struck an agreement with the Empire to place Squibs on board Imperial spacecraft as laborers. These Squibs, whom the Imperials considered slaves, provided Squib salvage vessels with the locations of Imperial dumpsites. The Squibs later signed a pact of mutual support with the Rebel Alliance.

As the Squibs developed the compulsion to collect and stockpile baubles, some tribes settled down while others became nomadic traders. Over time, a complex system of trade and barter emerged. After their first contact with the galaxy at large, the Squibs established themselves as galactic scavengers and rivals to the Ugors, another species. King Ebareebaveebeedee, who vocally supported the Galactic Republic during the Separatist Crisis, struck agreements with galactic interests to place Squibs aboard capital spacecraft as laborers. The Galactic Empire considered such Squibs slaves, but they provided salvage vessels with the locations of Imperial dumpsites. The species later signed a pact of mutual support with the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Squib salvagers reclaimed, refurbished, and resold rubbish both planetside and deep in space. Many worked directly for a corporation known as the Squib Merchandising Consortium, while others operated independently. Although most stayed within the law, some found work as forgers, thieves, and even crime lords. The Solo family had several encounters with the Squibs Emala, Grees, and Sligh, a family unit who operated as black market art dealers and information brokers.
