  • Johnny Sudderth (July 6, 1929 - ) is a former NASCAR driver from Atlanta, GA. He competed in eight Sprint Cup Series events in his career. Sudderth's debut came during the 1960 season, when he competed at Daytona in the Speedweeks festivities. Sudderth was impressive in the Qualifier Twin, ending his first career race in 13th to transfer into the Daytona 500. But a blown engine left him 48th in the 500 itself, and Sudderth also struggled to 34th at Charlotte later in the year. Sudderth only race one race during the 1961 season, coming at Atlanta. It was a tough race at his home track, as Sudderth only completed twenty-two laps before a rear end gear failure left him in 45th. Sudderth returned to a two-race schedule for the 1962 season, but it turned out to be a perfectly miserable year for the driver. A blown engine in the 600-miler at Charlotte left Sudderth in 47th and another engine issue in the October race left Sudderth 32nd. He also fared poorly in his return to Atlanta, as a broken sway bar left Sudderth in 32nd. Sudderth's final career race came during the 1963, when he competed back at his home track in Atlanta. Yet once again it was a horrible race for the driver, as Sudderth spun out of the race early on and finishing 45th.
